On Thursday 5 Aban 1401 (27 October 2022) his employer kept him in Baneh. That evening, as protests burned along Varzesh Boulevard opposite his workplace, he was hit by two live rounds, one in the hip and one at close range into the heart, and died. His body was taken to Salahuddin Ayyubi Hospital in Baneh. Relatives say the governor conditioned release of the body on an immediate midnight burial, so he was buried without a public mourning at Aichi cemetery in Saqqez. The Kurdistan Human Rights Network reported IRGC forces killing civilians during the Baneh protests of that wave. IranWire later reported that the justice-seeking family continued to face security threats while mourning.
