Memorial story

Hezharmam Mam Khosravi

Hezharmam Mam Khosravi was twenty and from Bukan in West Azerbaijan province. He had recently finished military service, loved futsal, and had begun training as a barber. Relatives told BBC Persian he often said he wished Iran would be free and women could dress however they wanted. On 26 Aban 1401 (17 November 2022), during protests in Bukan after Mahsa (Zhina) Amini's death, a source close to the family said a Revolutionary Guard member fired from a balcony and hit him with nineteen shotgun pellets. He was taken to Gholipour Hospital, where armed officers blocked relatives from gathering. He died after about three hours in surgery. The death certificate cited wartime munitions and hunting-shotgun projectiles outside a war setting. That night security forces pressured the family to bury him before dawn without a public funeral; he was buried in Bukan cemetery under threat. Spelling variants include Hezhar Mam Khosravi and Hezharmam Khosravi.
