Record & remembrance
Dates, places, sources, and messages — the same details as the full profile, kept on this page.
Matlab Saeed Piro (Persian: مطلب سعیدپیرو) was a forty-year-old Kurdish resident of Baneh in Kurdistan Province, born on 1 Khordad 1361 (22 May 1982).
On 5 Aban 1401 (27 October 2022), during Woman, Life, Freedom protests in Baneh, security forces killed him by gunfire. A Sky News investigation based on CCTV later showed armed men, some in IRGC and Basij uniforms and others in plain clothes, attacking his car and shooting him even though he was not shown joining a street protest at that moment. His body was returned the next day and buried in Khajeh Amir village.
Persian Wikipedia, Hengaw's statistical reports on Kurdish citizens killed in the uprising, and the Sky News film remain the main public sources for his case.
