Matlab Saeedpiro

Matlab Saeedpiro was a forty-year-old Kurdish man from Baneh, born 1 Khordad 1361, remembered because CCTV later showed how he died. On 5 Aban 1401 (27 October 2022), during protests marking the fortieth day after Zhina (Mahsa) Amini’s death, witnesses and Kurdish human-rights groups say IRGC and anti-riot forces opened fire in Baneh’s streets. A local source told KHRN he was shot while about to get into his car outside his home; Hengaw reported a Kalashnikov round entered his shoulder and exited his chest. He was from Choman village of Baneh and was buried the next day in Khajeh Amir village.

Sky News later broadcast verified CCTV: men in IRGC/Basij uniforms and plainclothes with rifles attack his car, chase him, and shoot, without him appearing in a street protest. A relative of Matlab, Dastan Rasul from Iraqi Kurdistan, was himself shot dead near the border the next day while coming to the funeral.
