Mehrdad Ghorbani

Mehrdad Ghorbani (Persian: مهرداد قربانی), son of Mohammad-Hassan, was an eighteen-year-old from Zanjan (زنجان).

On 30 Shahrivar 1401 (21 September 2022), in the first days of the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising, independent lists of those killed record that security forces shot him near Ghaem Square in Zanjan. Persian Wikipedia, Tribune Zamaneh and Iran Global tallies, and Shahidan memorial cards place his death that day.

The Iran Human Rights Society's list of 662 people killed in the 1401 protests records him as no. 44, from Zanjan, killed by security forces' gunfire on 30 Shahrivar, and the society's later consolidated list gives his age as 18 and his father's name as Mohammad-Hassan, with the same cause and date. Persian Wikipedia's table of the 1401 dead gives his age as 18 and the cause as a combat bullet. HRANA's report on the first 20 days of the protests lists him as no. 48, killed in Zanjan on 21 September 2022 by a bullet wound, with his age unknown and the case under investigation. In its report on the first 82 days, HRANA keeps him at no. 48, gives his age as 18 and marks his death as confirmed.

Years later, Azerbaijani human-rights notes and local remembrance gatherings in Zanjan have marked his anniversary among the early dead of that city.
