Ali Shoush

Ali Shoush (also spelled Shoosh; Persian: علی شوش) was a poet, theatre actor, and musician from Isfahan. The Iran I Know / Javidnaman archive, drawing on memorial documentation, states that security forces assaulted him during the fortieth-day memorial of Mahsa Amini in Isfahan and that he sustained a head injury. About four months later, around February 2023 (Bahman 1401), he died in hospital of a brain injury from that assault. His name was publicly revealed for the first time in March 2024 (Esfand 1402). Hengaw Organization for Human Rights likewise identifies him as a poet, theatre actor, and musician killed in connection with the Woman, Life, Freedom movement in Isfahan.

He was the brother of Emad Shoush, whose family roots are also linked to Lahijan in Gilan Province. Hengaw later verified that Emad was killed by Iranian government forces during the Dey 1404 protests. The exact calendar day of Ali's hospital death is not published in the sources cited here; this memorial records February 2023 as the approximate month.
