On Thursday, 18 Dey 1404 (8 January 2026), during the protests in Rostamabad, where government forces used live fire and tear gas, he was shot with live ammunition. Manoto reported that agents fired at him from the roof of the Basij building and that the bullet struck his chest; Hengaw, which verified his killing, reported a live bullet to the neck. Hengaw listed him among ten Gilak people killed by live fire in Gilan and Mazandaran provinces, and HRANA lists him among its confirmed victims. His family was not charged for the release of his body, but they were forced to sign a pledge not to speak publicly or hold a ceremony with more than 20 people.
At his fortieth-day memorial in Rostamabad, his 14-year-old son Arsam said: "Let us clench our fists together. One nation, one flag and one slogan for a prosperous and free Iran. Long live Iran." Arsam's aunt later asked people: "Please be Arsam's voice." He is remembered among the dead of Gilan from those days, including Abbas Keshavarz.
