On the evening of Thursday, 8 January 2026 (18 Dey 1404), as Lahijan rose in protest, he joined the crowd and was shot by security forces. Social posts and Hyrcani human-rights media described motorcycle units firing live rounds; a fortieth (chehelom) for him and Parvaneh Khojandi Rad was later held in Lahijan, where mourners chanted against the supreme leader.
He is remembered as one of the young people of Lahijan, the green tea-growing city of Gilan, lost that night.
