Memorial story

Diako Ghadermarzi

Diako Ghadermarzi (also spelled Qadermazi or Qadermarzi) was a 19-year-old Kurdish youth from the village of Sadeqabad in Dehgolan (Dewlan), Kurdistan Province. Hengaw Organization for Human Rights verified that on Thursday, 8 January 2026 (18 Dey 1404), he was killed after being shot by Iranian government forces during protests in Karaj. Kurdpa reported the same date but placed the shooting in Tehran and described him as a Tehran resident; this memorial notes that conflict and follows Hengaw's Karaj placement for the killing while keeping Sadeqabad as his home village.

Hengaw had previously published footage from his funeral, during which mourners chanted "Ey Shahidan" ("O Martyrs") and "Kak Diako is a hero, a martyr of Kurdistan." Kurdpa reported that the burial was carried out at night under a heavy security atmosphere. Hana Human Rights Organization likewise recorded that he was killed by direct gunfire in Karaj.

The Iranian government's own published list of January 2026 dead includes him as Diako Qadermazi (قادرمزی), son of Saber (row 660).
