Omid Shojaiyan (also spelled Shojaeian) was a 34-year-old Kurdish man from Kermanshah, born in 1369 (about 1990 to 1991). He was married and the father of two daughters, ages 11 and 6.
On the evening of Friday, 9 January 2026 (19 Dey 1404), during nationwide protests, government forces shot him with military-grade ammunition in the Maskan neighborhood of Kermanshah, directly in front of his shop. The bullet struck his kidney. Despite the wound, he reached Imam Reza Hospital on foot. Doctors operated immediately, but severe internal bleeding left him in a coma, and he died in intensive care with his wife present.
His wife prepared his body for burial. He was laid to rest on 12 January 2026 (22 Dey 1404) with family and relatives present. Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN), and Kolbar News verified his killing. Kermanshah Voice published a memorial portrait and biography.
