Memorial story
Sajjad Bakhshali
Sajjad Bakhshali (Persian: سجاد بخشعلی) was a 32-year-old resident of Parand in Tehran Province. Long before January 2026 he had paid a price for protest. Human rights groups reported that on the night of 10 Tir 1397 (1 July 2018) he was arrested by IRGC intelligence agents during the protests of Tehran's bazaar merchants and held in Ward 2-A and then the general Ward 4 of Evin Prison. Branch 28 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced him to a total of seven years in prison and 74 lashes on charges that included "assembly and collusion against national security". At 25, rights monitors said, the uncertainty of his case and prison conditions had taken a heavy toll on him.

In late summer 2023 he was arrested again in Tehran together with Hamed Mohagheghi, and the Revolutionary Court fined them both. He was released from Evin on Tuesday, 12 Dey 1402 (2 January 2024).
On 18 Dey 1404 (8 January 2026), during the nationwide uprising, he was shot in the head and killed in Parand. HRANA lists him among its confirmed victims, and his name appears, with his father's name Ahdollah, in the list of the dead published by the government in February 2026. He was buried in Behesht-e Zahra cemetery in Tehran. A friend wrote after his death: "Immortal Sajjad Bakhshali, former political prisoner. I wish I had been by your side, brother."
