Komar Daroftade was a 16-year-old Iranian boy from Piranshahr who became one of the tragic symbols of the \"Woman, Life, Freedom\" uprising. On October 30, 2022, he was severely wounded by direct fire from security forces of the Islamic Republic and subsequently died due to the denial of medical care.

The Shooting

Komar was targeted near Mohammad Oraz Square on the \"Old House\" beltway. According to reports, security forces shot him from a terrifyingly close range of just three meters using a shotgun. Despite being critically wounded, Komar was alive at the time of his arrest.

Denial of Medical Care

Instead of being rushed to a hospital, security agents transferred the bleeding teenager to the Piranshahr Investigation Department (Agahi). An investigation by BBC Persian, published on May 13, 2024 (24 Ordibehesht 1403), revealed shocking details about his final moments:

The Delay: Komar arrived at the hospital approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes after his arrest—a delay that proved fatal.
Blocking Aid: Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) who arrived at the police station attempted to perform CPR and resuscitation but were physically prevented by agents.
The Report: The emergency report explicitly stated: \"Security and investigation forces... emphasized that we were ordered to transfer the patient to the hospital immediately [without treatment]... The patient was handed over to the emergency room without an IV line, without vital signs, and without airway intubation.\"

By the time he reached the hospital, the \"golden hour\" for saving his life had passed. Doctors performed CPR for 34 minutes, but it was futile. His death was officially recorded at 10:15 PM.

A Father’s Grief and Pride

Komar was laid to rest on October 31 in the village of Zivkeh. In a video that circulated widely on social media, his father stood over the grave and spoke in Kurdish, his voice trembling with a mix of grief and defiance:

\"I am happy that he was martyred for freedom and his soil... Since last night, my heart has been torn to pieces, but he was sacrificed for this land and freedom. By God, they will kill us all; by God, [my child] was innocent; they [the Islamic Republic] will have mercy on no one.\"
