Erfan Kakaei

Erfan Kakaei was a physical-education teacher and known sports figure in Javanrud, Kermanshah. Sources put his age between about forty-five and fifty-two; the age of about fifty given here is an estimate until his birth year is confirmed. On the evening of 29 Aban 1401 (20 November 2022), during renewed protests in the city, reports say security forces shot him dead. He was buried the next day together with Bahaeddin Veisi; as mourners returned, VOA and others documented heavy gunfire, including heavy machine-gun fire, into the funeral crowd that killed and wounded more people.

Iran Human Rights and KHRN’s later Javanrud investigation placed the late-Aban killings in a pattern of wartime weapons against unarmed crowds.
