Locally he was known as the "son of the sea".

On the evening of Friday, 19 Dey 1404 (9 January 2026), he was killed by government forces during the protests in Chaf. Hengaw verified his killing. Tavaana reported that a live round struck him in the heart, while other accounts, including Iran International's sports service, said he first fell after being shot in the leg and then died from the blows he received. According to Tavaana, his body was returned to the family only after a payment and on condition of a night-time burial. HRANA lists him among its confirmed victims in Chaf, and his name appears in the list of the dead published by the government in February 2026.

At his 40th-day memorial, mourners clapped along to the song "Vatan, Eshgh-e Man" (My Homeland, My Love). Hengaw verified Omid Norouzi and Erfan Azordeh among Gilak victims in the same report.
