Record & remembrance

Dates, places, sources, and messages — the same details as the full profile, kept on this page.

Morteza Jahanbakhsh, also recorded as Morteza Jahanbakhsh Varanlou, was killed in Chenaran, Razavi Khorasan Province, on the evening of Wednesday, 7 January 2026 (17 Dey 1404).

The National Council of Resistance of Iran named him among five identified dead from that night’s direct fire. Hengaw’s Chenaran reporting, also cited in the memorial of Mehdi Validoost, places him with Validoost under Kalashnikov fire on Khomeini Boulevard. Iran International’s Javidnaman lists “مرتضی جهانبخش ورانلو,” and Wikipedia’s Dey 1404 killed table records Chenaran on 17 Dey.

He is remembered here with Mehdi Ghorbandost, Mohammad Reza Gorouhi and Rouhollah Setareh-Moshtari, neighbours taken the same night. A portrait already in uploads keeps his face with the corrected story.
