Record & remembrance

Pezhman Norouz Rajabi was a 27-year-old barber from Shahsavar (Tonekabon) in Mazandaran. He was the second child of his family, owned his own shop, and raced his motorcycle in mountain motocross competitions. Those close to him say he loved riding and was a great fan of Cristiano Ronaldo.

On the evening of Thursday, 8 January 2026 (18 Dey 1404), the first night of the nationwide call to protest, he chose to join the protesters instead of going to a close friend's wedding. At around 9:30 pm, on Shiroudi Boulevard opposite Bank Refah, security forces shot him with live ammunition. The bullet entered his side and hit his spleen.

Because security forces had taken over the nearby hospital, his companions carried him by motorcycle to a clinic in Shirud, which lacked the means to treat him. He was then moved by ambulance to a hospital in Ramsar, where he was kept in the operating room for about three hours before he was declared dead. People close to him say he received no real treatment there, "not even a simple IV drip," as the hospital was under heavy security pressure.

When his body was handed over, agents ordered the family to bury him at 4 am, before sunrise. The family held out and he was finally laid to rest around 8 in the morning in Shahsavar. He was engaged to be married.
