Sina Kazemi was a 22-year-old from Tehran, an eighth-semester software engineering student who also played guitar and competed as an athlete. Friends and memorial reports remember a young man finishing his degree when the January 2026 uprising swept the capital.
On Friday, 9 January 2026 (19 Dey 1404), Iranian government forces shot him in the back in the Tehranpars area of Tehran. Iran International reported that after days of searching, his family identified his body among other corpses; Hengaw said relatives were informed of his death about six days later.
Hengaw listed him among university students killed that week, raising the verified student death toll it tracked to 25, alongside Danial Diyani, Zahra Mahmoudpour, and others.
