Record & remembrance

Dates, places, sources, and messages — the same details as the full profile, kept on this page.

Mohammad Amini (Persian: محمد امینی), son of Golmohammad, was a young man from the Taghtaghan neighbourhood of Sanandaj in Kurdistan Province, which Hengaw also calls Eslamabad. Amnesty International's 2026 report Lives Cut Brutally Short and the German Wikipedia list give his age as 33.

On Saturday 16 Mehr 1401 (8 October 2022), during the Woman, Life, Freedom protests in Sanandaj, he was shot dead. Hengaw reported on 17 Mehr that he was killed by direct fire from forces stationed on the roof of the Kar-Amoozi (vocational training) building in his neighbourhood. The Hana Human Rights Organization says he was shot from behind with a Kalashnikov in the Shirini Neshkar alley of the Kar-Amoozi neighbourhood, and Persian Wikipedia records that he died at the scene from a combat round. Hengaw counted four people killed and about 130 wounded in the Kurdish protests of that day; in Sanandaj, Dariush Alizadeh, Peyman Monbari and Yahya Rahimi were also killed.

Hengaw reported that at least three of those killed that day were buried at night under heavy security. Under security pressure his family held a limited late-night burial in Yunesabad village near Sanandaj, and mourning at the family home in Taghtaghan was watched by security forces, including drone filming of visitors. The Kurdistan Human Rights Network reported that his brother Hassan Amini, described as a member of a justice-seeking family, was taken to Sanandaj Central Prison on 31 Tir 1403 (21 July 2024) to serve a sentence of six months and fifteen days.

Hengaw's list of 134 Kurdish dead (no. 31), the Iran Human Rights Society's list of 662 names (no. 100), the NCRI's Persian list of 185 names (no. 247) and list of 647 names (no. 258), the Campaign to Defend Political and Civil Prisoners and the English and German Wikipedia lists also record his death. The Iran Human Rights Society's consolidated list places him under Kermanshah Province as a resident of Eslamabad-e Gharb, with his father's name as Golmohammad and the same date.
