Majid Jalilian (also spelled Jaliliyan) was a 39-year-old fitness athlete, CrossFit competitor, and construction worker from Tehran. He was married and the father of a seven-year-old son.
According to Javidan Iran and Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Friday, 9 January 2026 (19 Dey 1404), during the nationwide protests, he was killed by Iranian government forces in the Marzdaran area of western Tehran. Javidan Iran places the shooting on Ashrafi Esfahani Boulevard and reports that relatives said he was shot at very close range with a pistol. Hengaw earlier reported that he was severely beaten by government forces in Marzdaran and was ultimately killed with live ammunition. Hengaw noted he had competed several times in national CrossFit competitions.
Javidan Iran reports that agents threatened his family with seizure of property and extracted a written commitment before handing over his body. He was buried at Behesht Zahra Cemetery in Tehran (plot 74, row 178, number 59). His last Instagram post, on an account that used the Lion and Sun flag as its profile image, appeared on 18 Dey 1404, the first day of a widely circulated protest call, with a “victory” emoji.
Hengaw confirmed his identity together with Yashar Soltanirad, Mohammadreza Avazpour, Meysam Khazaei, and Shahrouz Mehrabi.
